King George

King George V Street is best known for some of the important building (and hotels) that line this street (though others simply know it as the road that leads to the top of Ben Yeduah Street).

Pictured below is the Great Synagogue (with Heichal Shlomo on the left), the new Avi-Chai Center, and The Yeshurun Synagogue.

If you’re wondering why a street in Israel is named after a British King then wonder no more.

King George the Fifth was king of Britain in 1917, which was when Britain announced the Balfour Declaration, which declared this British territory to now be the State of the Jews.
